Limwe AA

Taste Notes
Blackberry, Redcurrant, Bergamot

It’s unusual to come across a single-estate coffee from Kenya, we’re not complaining though because this one is a real fruit bomb! A punch of Blackberry hits you then softens into Redcurrants with a smooth Bergamot finish. Perfect for those crisp autumn and winter mornings.

About the coffee

Livien Osiemo has long dreamed of having a coffee farm. In 2015, he purchased Limwe Estate and planted the first coffee trees on the farm. The farm is spread across five plots in Nyamira County. Together, they make up about 8 hectares of coffee plantings. It’s unusual to come across a single estate coffee from Kenya as most of the country’s producers are members of co-operatives, so their cherries are normally combined into one blended batch. We’re not complaining though… It just makes this coffee a true standout in every sense! Cherry is selectively handpicked and then pulped. Coffee is then fermented for 12 to 24 hours in a small tank before being washed in clean water to remove any remaining mucilage. All wastewater from the washing process is cleaned to ensure environmental impact is limited.
