About the coffee

The Koerintji Barokah Bersama Cooperative, consisting of over 320 members, all reside and farms at the foot of Mount Kerinci in Gunung Tujuh, Sumatra. Mount Kerinci, part of a series of 452 volcanoes, where almost constant eruptions has created lush and fertile soil ideal for coffee growing. Managed by Triyono, the cooperative members are guided in processing their own coffees in new and innovative ways that contrast the traditional wet hulled method. This expansion of processing has led to this Honey-processed Andung Sari & Sigarar Utang varietal. The coffee is pulped without water and dried on raised beds for around 20 days before milling and hand-sorting. Farmers in Indonesia are seeking sustainable solutions to continue coffee cultivation in Kerinci. Through the Farmgate Initiative, our purchase of this coffee supports an organic compost project, helping farmers sustain coffee farming for years to come.
